Library Services

Everything we do for you, inside the library or out

Borrowing Materials:

  • Books, audiobooks, and magazines are loaned out for 3 weeks
    • New adult fiction books circulate for 2 weeks
    • The newest issue of magazines in the adult collection do not circulate
    • All overdue print and audio materials are assessed a $0.10/day late fine
  • DVDs circulate for 1 week
    • "Green" DVDs cost $2.00 each to rent
    • "Red" DVDs are free to rent
    • New DVDs cost $2.00 and have a 3-day rental period
    • All overdue DVDs are assessed a $1.00/day late fine
  • Interlibrary loan items
    • Materials not owned by Briggs District Library may be available for loan from other libraries
    • Briggs District Library loan periods and overdue fine amounts apply to all interlibrary loan items

Public Computer Access:
Public computers are available to all library patrons, with or without a Briggs District Library card.  All public computer users must complete and sign an Internet User Registration form (those who have a library card) or an Internet Guest User Registration form (those who do not have a library card) prior to gaining access to a computer.   Minors must have a parent or legal guardian complete the appropriate registration form. 

All public computers have Internet access, Microsoft Office Suite, and printing capabilities.  There is no fee to use a public computer, but there is a $0.25/page charge for printing.

Free Wi-Fi is also available at Briggs District Library.

Reference Services:
Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is available to help patrons locate items and answer reference questions in the library or over the telephone.

Public Meeting Rooms:

A Meeting Room is available to organizations for recreational, cultural and civic purposes.  Click here for a copy of the Meeting Room guidelines and application for use.

A Quiet Study Room is also available for proctoring of exams, study sessions, or as a quiet place to read or work on projects.  Click here for a copy of the Quiet Study Room guidelines and application for use.

The Library's Bement Room provides materials for researching genealogy and local history. Use of this room is regulated, please stop at the main desk to sign in.


Tax Forms:

The library serves as a distribution center for local, state, and federal tax forms. Many forms are available pre-printed in the library, starting in January or February of each year. Access to even more documents is available from the library via a reproducible tax form book at a cost of $.25 per page, or on the Internet through the links available on our Internet Resources page.


Other Services:

  • Copy service
    • A photocopier is available to the public at a cost of $0.25/page
    • The photocopier does not make color copies
  • Fax service
    • Faxes may be received at Briggs District Library at a cost of $1.00/page
    • Faxes may be sent from the library at a cost of:
      • $0.50/page for local or toll-free numbers
      • $1.00/page for Michigan numbers
      • $2.00/page for out-of-state numbers
